As you surely know, .FR finally switched to multi-year registration on March 30th.

For those of you that are unaware, before that date, a .FR domain could only be registered for one year at a time. Currently, like the large majority of extensions, a .FR domain can be registered for up to 10 years.

In order to celebrate this very good news, during the entire month of May, we are providing you with a promo of .FR domains for 5 years or more, with a yearly price of €9 excl. VAT versus the usual €12 under A rates. For a .FR domain registered for 10 years, for example, this would come to €90 instead of €120 excl. VAT. Note that this promo is only valid for A and B rates.

And for those that already have their .FR domain, if you want to renew it for 5 or more years, you can use the promo code FR5PLUS which will give you a 10% discount on the total price.

Of course these two promos are ALSO valid for the domains of the French overseas departments and territories: .RE (Reunion Island), .YT (Mayotte), .WF (Wallis and Futuna), .TF (French Southern and Antarctic Lands) et .PM (Saint Pierre and Miquelon).

Looking for a domain in one of these extensions?

Like the large majority of extensions, you can now register your .FR domains for up to 10 years if you wish.

Until recently, the maximum duration of a .FR registration was one year. It was therefore necessary to renew your domain before the anniversary date - which is no longer displayed in the whois, and is replaces with a more customary expiration date.

As with most extensions, the maximum duration can not exceed 10 years to the day. If you have a .FR domain that is currently active, you can therefore not add more than 9 years to it. For transfers, the operation will add one year to the domain's expiration date rather than reinitialise it to the anniversary date.

Note that this important modification is also true for the other national extensions managed by Afnic: .RE, .YT, .WF, .TF, and .PM.

Nothing else changes with their operations.
