Terms and Conditions

Assigning: anyone can register a .ES.
Syntax: from 3 to 63 alphanumeric characters or a hyphen (other than in first or last position).
IDN: yes
Registration period: 1 to 5 years
Subdomains available: .com.es, .org.es

Procedures

Registration: creation delay = at least 6 hours. If the owner is an individual, the registrant contact and the administrative contact must be the same.
Renewal: late renewal is possible until 15 days after the expiration date. It is not possible to restore a deleted .es domain name.
Disputes: domains ; phishing
Change of owner: the current and the new owner must validate the process by e-mail. There is also a paper form to sign and send: please contact our support team to get the form.
Change of Registrar : the process must be ordered online on Gandi's website, and validated on the Registry's interface within 10 days (Spanish interface). The transfer does not include any renewal. Here is the detailed procedure:

• place the order on our website
• you will receive an email from the registry in Spanish, asking you to validate the transfer within 10 days
• recover your handle (owner or administrative contact) from the registry, by using the command whois at the registry ("busca tu dominio")
• go to the webpage https://www.nic.es/esnic/jsp/Login_UR.jsp (link which is in the mail sent by the registry): enter your handle on the registry webpage, and ask for your password, (”Recuperar Contrasena”)
• recover your password in the emails
• return to https://www.nic.es/esnic/jsp/Login_UR.jsp, enter your handle and password
• next choose "Solicitudes > Lista de solicitudes" from this menu, search for the domain with a PENDPCA status from the list. Click on its reference (first column of the table). On the bottom of the following page "Realizar Transferencia de Domino" to validate this transfer.

The domain will be available in your control panel a few hours later. A Trade (transfer with simultaneous owner change) is not supported for this extension.
